Blyweert Beaufort’s ‘A’ rated aluminium system has provided the perfect replacement for steel-framed windows at Loraine House - a three-storey social housing block in Wallington, Surrey. Uxbridge-based Capital Windows has fabricated and installed 230 aluminium windows using the Steel Replacement System from the Beaufort Range, which offers the same super slim sightlines as steel but with the superior security, weather and thermal performance of aluminium. In addition to replacement windows, Capital supplied 15 double and 8 single doors for the project, also from the Beaufort Range.

The refurbishment of Loraine House is being undertaken by Sutton Housing Partnership, in association with the London Borough of Sutton, as part of the Decent Homes programme. The new high performance aluminium windows and doors will improve the building’s overall energy efficiency rating, and reduce heating bills for residents. The Steel Replacement is an ‘A’ rated aluminium window system with a unique polyamide thermal break design that can achieve U-values as low as 1.3w/m2K when specified with an energy efficient gas-filled double glazed unit incorporating low-e glass.

The Steel Replacement System from the Beaufort Range is an internally glazed window offering ease of installation, particularly on multi-storey buildings. The windows are designed with integrated deep head profiles to accommodate trickle ventilation. To retain the appearance of the original fenestration, the windows for Loraine House were specified in a white powder coated finish and feature a face-applied Georgian Bar.
